Company introduction Built just 50km north along Tongil-ro from Seoul and at the Military Demarcation Line inside the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission, Panmunjom is where South and North Korea signed their Armistice Agreement on July 27, 1953. Since signing the Agreement, Panmunjom has been a Joint Security Area (JSA), and is a special zone under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Command. In other words, neither South Korea nor North Korea have administrative jurisdiction over the area. Foreign tourists with passports can visit the “Freedom House” guarded by UN and Korean troops. Korean and foreign nationals looking to visit Panmunjom must go through the required protocol (e.g. signing a visitor's pledge) before traveling to Panmunjom.
