1. Anyang Citizen Festival - Anyang

Anyang Citizen Festival is held under the theme of citizens and their Living Arts every year. It is growing as a “Living arts festival” representing the metropolitan area. It promotes the growth of culture and art in Anyang City by forming a local artist community and by fostering a citizens’ cultural community. Anyang Citizen Festival is becoming a courtyard of citizen harmony through culture and art, which can be enjoyed by the whole family, such as various performances, exhibition experience programs, and auxiliary events participated in by related agencies and citizen groups.

2. Jinmal Mongdang Festival - Bucheon

The Jinmal Mongdang Festival, a festival of Bucheon University and Simgok 1-dong Residents’ Autonomous Committee of Wonmi-gu, Bucheon City, will be held. It has developed into a local festival by combining the “Mongdang” spirit of Han Hang-gil (pen-name: Mongdang) – the founder of Bucheon University – and “Jinmal (meaning mud),” which is an old name of Simgok 1-dong. Based on the cooperation between Bucheon University and local youth, this festival seeks to resolve the youth unemployment problem, encourage the settlement of young people in the village, and revitalize the local economy.

3. Hwang Sun-won Literature Festival - Yangpyeong

Hwang Sun-Won Literature Festival, which commemorates the literary spirit of novelist Hwang Sun-won (1915~2000), will be held from September 8 to 10 at Yangpyeong Hwangsunwon Literature Sonagi Village. Various events such as separate essay contests for elementary, middle, and high school students, painting contest, and journey into Hwang Sun-won Literature Village with writers will take place. Application for participation can be made via the homepage of Sonagi Village. The festival is hosted jointly by Kyung Hee University, Yangpyeong-gun, and Korea JoongAng Daily and organized by the Hwang Sun-won Commemorative Association.

4. King Jeongjo Filial Cultural Festival - Hwaseong

As a festival representing the history and tradition of Hwaseong City, it commemorates King Jeongjo’s practice of filial duty. It is held in the vicinity of Yungneung and Geolleung Royal Tombs, which were the final destination of a long journey in 1795. Visitors can witness various untold stories through a reenactment event as well as performances and experiences such as the process of Prince Sado’s death, King Jeongjo’s parade to the royal tombs, and King Jeongjo’s filial piety toward father Prince Sado.
