Taste of Gyeonggi-do with Stories
Suwon galbi (beef short ribs) was known for being not just tender and delicious, but also large. A single strip of galbi was as large as five meters or more. Because a single person could not handle a single strip of galbi, Suwon galbi became known as wanggalbi (big-sized beef short ribs).
In addition, salt was used instead of soy sauce to marinate it, maintaining both a crisp taste and fresh-looking color. Pleasing the eyes and tongue of diners, Suwon wanggalbi has become ever more popular since 1995 thanks to the annual Galbi Festival.
