Healing Yongmunsan Mural Village, Yangpyeong

Art in Nature and Nature in Art Yongmunsan Mural Village, Yangpyeong

Yongmunsan Mountain in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi-do, is one of the best places to see fall foliage in Korea. You might have already visited Yongmunsan Mountain to see the autumn leaves or a ginkgo tree at Yongmunsa Temple. This year, why not visit this place to appreciate the contemporary murals at the Yongmunsan Tourist Complex? The murals along the Yongmunsan trail are considerably large in scale. In one corner of a parking lot, there is a patch of land covered in lava, which is sure to catch your attention. You can also find cool 3D optical illusion paintings on the street, including a realistic depiction of a valley with big waves. Feel free to take a photo of yourself with a fun and optically tricky painting and post it on your social media channel. There are also numerous murals in every corner of the hanok built along the main road. This village can be divided into five sections, and each section has an interesting collection of murals under a different theme. At the entrance to the tourist complex, you will be able to find optical illusion paintings with a contemporary touch. Once you pass the parking lot and reach the commercial area crowded with restaurants and guest houses, you will be greeted with a change in the scenery with more nostalgic murals. Unlike the bustling atmosphere near the entrance, the residential area with green lawns is quiet and peaceful. If you reach another section, you might even get lost in thought while reading the short text attached to the murals about the nature of Yongmunsan Mountain. Appreciating the murals about beautiful flowers and maple leaves would be a perfect way to enjoy autumn.
