A Path Surrounded by Mountains and Rivers Greeting Autumn Bukhangang Bike Path, Gapyeong

The Bukhangang Bike Path starts from Balgeun Plaza in Namyangju and continues to Sinmaedaegyo Bridge in Chuncheon. Its gentle slopes make it ideal for beginners or family bike tours. When you travel by car, you can park your vehicle in the free parking lot near the Balgeun Plaza Bike Path Certification Center. If you decide to take a subway, head down at the Gapyeong section of the Bukhangang Bike Path and start cycling from there.
It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to cycle one way along the Gapyeong section from Daeseong-ri Station to Gyeongganggyo Bridge. This bike route features some of the most famous field trips and getaway destinations not far away from Seoul, such as the Daeseong-ri National Tourist Area, Cheongpyeong Recreation Area, and Jarasum Island. From Daeseong-ri Station to Cheongpyeong Recreation Area, the Bukhangang River flows by your side. Meanwhile, from Cheongpyeong Recreation Area to Gyeongganggyo Bridge, the path runs between Bulgisan Mountain and Homyeongsan Mountain. As you ride your bike, you will feel the cool breeze from the river and enjoy the autumn foliage in the mountains. For bikers who are in their 40s and 50s, the bike path is sure to evoke many fond memories, and for those in their 20s and 30s, the surrounding natural scenery will be worth the bicycle trip. Jarasum Island at the end of the bike path is good for those looking for a quick breather, regardless of whether you enjoy cycling. With the Gyeongchun Line running side by side with the bike path, cyclists can easily create or change their itinerary depending on their physical condition. Bicycles are allowed in the LRT subway trains only on weekends and public holidays. However, for two months starting September, between Sangbong Station and Chuncheon Station, bicycles will be allowed from 10:00 to 16:00 on weekdays as a part of a trial run. It is important to note that the 2.17 km section across Hasaek-ri, Gapyeong-eup, where Daljeoncheon Stream runs through, is currently under construction as part of the Dalcheoncheon Ecosystem Restoration Project, so bikers are expected to take a detour. Moreover, visitors can find a bike rental stand (+82-31-8078-8028) on Jarasum Island. The stand is temporarily closed because of flood damage, so it is recommended that you contact the stand before visiting it.
