Love Comes with Off-Road Driving! Buggy Car Riding in Gapyeong

A 3-min walk from Gapyeong Station, Gyeongchun Line, will take you to Gapyeongyeok Leisure, which is filled with loud engine sounds. These noises come from the park’s all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and buggy cars. You might have heard of ATVs before, but buggy cars may not sound familiar. Buggy cars refer to automobiles with off-road capabilities and a lower bodywork, and the racing experience on this ride is even more thrilling than an ATV’s. The roll cage built around a buggy car will make you feel as if you were sitting inside a race car.

If you want the full experience of riding on buggy cars, you have to drive on all 5 spectacular routes that cut across mountains, fields, and valleys. The “Basic Route” is a 40-min route for beginners, and the route starts with mountain roads, passes through fields and reed beds, and ends in a cool valley. On the other hand, the “Lovely Route” is ideal for couples or families who want to go on outings. This route is where the characters played by Hwang Jung-eum and Ryu Jun-yeol fall for each other in the K-drama Lucky Romance. Moreover, this 10-min route consists of mountain roads and watercourses, which do not require any special skills from the designated driver. The “Follow Me Route” is an intermediate route that consists of a 60-min mountain road section and a 10-min valley section. If you want to explore a buggy’s off-road capabilities, this route would be the perfect choice. The 80-min advanced route called “Extreme” offers visitors an exciting rough-and-tumble ride. It is thrilling to cross Eomma Pass, which has a 35-degree slope and a meandering labyrinth zone. Once you reach the Nut Pine Forest Healing Zone and Bukhangang View Zone, you will be deeply moved by the impressive sights and overwhelming peace of mind. Finally, “Rainbow Route” is a 36 km route that requires 2 hr to finish, and is the compilation of all major routes at Gapyeongyeok Leisure. You do not have to worry about your safety because all routes are free of incoming traffic, and a tour guide will accompany you.
