When you think of the Korean War, the Division of Korea, and the effect they had on families, you may be reminded of Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. The park has many landmarks that portray the solemn realities of Korean History, which includes the Mangbaedan Altar, the memorial altar where displaced Koreans pay respect to the family members they left back home in North Korea on traditional holidays; Freedom Bridge, where South and North Korean representatives walked on the July 4th South-North Joint Statement; and a steam locomotive that halted near Jangdan Station. Aside from housing important landmarks, the area is also equipped with beautiful outdoor parks, such as the Hill of Wind and Hill of Music.

This beautiful park with the blue sky, wide lawns, and heartwarming walking paths existing in perfect harmony is a perfect place to enjoy early summer to the fullest. In particular, the Hill of Wind, which has about 3,000 paper pinwheels and enormous 3–11 m tall bamboo sculptures of the human form, is a famous photo spot among visitors.

Imjingak Pavilion is located behind the parking lot. Once you reach the top of the pavilion, you will have a panoramic view of North Korea in the distance, the slowly flowing Imjingang River, railway tracks, Dokgae Bridge, Freedom Bridge, and Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri. Dokgae Bridge and Art Space BEAT 131, situated in an underground bunker, are temporarily closed because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
