Just take a train on Subway Line 4 to reach Oido Island, the perfect place for a late summer night walk along the beach. Oido Island has lovely trails along the embankment. For example, Old Poets’ Trail is adorned with “A Night Spent Counting Stars” and “Prologue,” written by the famous Korean poet, Yun Dongju. Other must-see landmarks include Red Lighthouse and Sunset Deck.

The best place to visit at night in Oido Island would be the Tree of Life Observatory right at the end of the embankment on the way to Baedari Quay. The sculpture at the center of the observatory seems unexceptional during the day. However, its hidden beauty is revealed when the sun sets. Cast over the sculpture, “Tree of Life,” are color-changing lights that create a magical atmosphere and bring its surroundings to life. Captivated by the beautiful scenery, people cram toward the observatory and snap several photos. Across the sea, Songdo International Business District’s eye-catching cityscape also grabs attention, along with the cool sea breeze gently touching your face.
