Dae Jang Geum Park: S. Korea’s largest historical drama set to commemorate the drama Dae Jang Geum
  • Yongin Dae Jang Geum Park is the biggest historical drama set in S. Korea run by Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and a filming that is open to the public. The park was originally called “Yongin MBC Dramia” but became Yongin Dae Jang Geum Park in 2011 when part of Yangju Dae Jang Geum Park was moved here.

The historical drama Dae Jang Geum, also known as Jewel in the Palace starring Lee Young-ae and Ji Jinhee, is the initiator of Korean Wave all over the world. The story of a lowly cook turned top-rated chef and physician recorded the highest viewership domestically; it was aired in dozens of countries and is still loved by many globally. The park features sets of the drama as well as life-size figures of Jang Geum, other protagonists, and maids of honor in the royal kitchen for visitors who want to take photos with them.

  • Farther up from the Dae Jang Gem filming set are posters of more various dramas and life-size figures of actors and actresses. Dramas about varying historical periods ranging from the Three Kingdoms’ period, Goryeo Dynasty, Joseon Dynasty, and modern times, such as Shin Don, Jumong, Yi San (Wind of the Palace), Moon Embracing the Sun, and Mr. Sunshine, were filmed here.

Due to the broadness of the site, visitors are advised to plan the tour before starting, which mostly takes about 1.5 - 2 hours. Tour cars are available for those who prefer a ride accompanied by commentary (KRW 3,000 per person).
