Cave Wine Restaurant: The heart of Korea’s wine production
  • Gwangmyeong Cave’s other famous attraction is its Wine Cave, which is 194 meters long. This wine cave has the ideal conditions for keeping and maturing wine at 12 to 13 degrees all year round. Although Gwangmyeong doesn’t produce any wine at all, the Gwangmyeong Wine Cave stocks some 170 wines from 49 wineries in Korea.

You can sample and purchase Korean wines of excellent quality at the wine tasting counter. Its most famous wine is ‘Yeopo’s Dream’, a white wine label of Yeongdong in Chungcheongbuk-do, which was served at the Cheongwadae (Blue House) when Ivanka Trump visited Korea.

  • The cave restaurant ‘Maru de Cave’ is situated at the end of the wine cave. The restaurant, whose vintage interior blends well with the cave’s unique atmosphere, serves delicious dishes with fine wines and coffee. The café accepts clients without reservation; however, for lunch or dinner groups of ten or more persons, it is necessary to reserve a table at least three days in advance.

Upon leaving the cave via the entrance of ‘Maru de Cave’, you will find the Gahaksan Dulle-gil Trail, the perfect place for enjoying a stroll in the woods amid clean mountain air.
