White Birch Forest: A Lofty Forest of White Trees
  • The white birch forest looks green from May to October, yellow in November, and white from December to March. Some 1,000 white birch trees planted in a 5,000 m2 (0.5 hectare) area are reaching toward the sky in white skin. The trees look most beautiful in November, and the views of autumnal foliage along the 1 km (0.6 mile) long zigzagging promenade are particularly spectacular. There are shortcuts in the middle of the path for those in a hurry.

Shelters to avoid lightning and rain are located at the entrance and the end of the forest, along with drink vending machines and litter bins.

  • Also at the end of the white birch forest stand monorail platform 2 and a restroom. Tickets are not available from monorail platform 2. Next to them is an observatory to overlook the Hwadam Botanic Garden. From here, visitors can opt between the Forest Theme Garden Trail and the Forest Trekking Trail.

The Forest Theme Garden Trail is a plain path without uphills and it takes about 10 minutes on foot to reach the end that is the entrance of the Pine Tree Garden, whereas the Forest Trekking Trail is a 2 km (1.25 miles) long hiking trail which takes about 50 minutes to complete. The slower trail leads to the Pteridophytes Garden, the Bird Story Path and, finally, the Pine Tree Garden.
