Together with Jungang market and Jeil Market, Keunsijang Market is a representative traditional market in Dongducheon City, located at 812-6, Saengyeon-dong. As nearby farmers traded their produce, this market was formed organically and officially opened in 1961. It is a permanent and comprehensive market that deals with wholesale and retail sales of agricultural and livestock products. It is a fifth-day market, operating on the 5th, 10th, 15th, 25th, and 30th day of every month.

Left: lots of sacks of dried red peppers sold in the market./ Right: lots people enjoying the street food at the food stalls.

As of 2007, 75 stores and 50 street vendors are in operation by 90 merchants. The market has a parking lot with a 50-car capacity and four restrooms. After a renovation project in 2006, the rainproof facility and Customer Sarangbang, which is equipped with a breastfeeding room, children’s playroom, computer education room, and a rest space, were built. To revitalize the market, the market is holding Keunsijang Festival, gift-giveaway events and the issuance of gift certificates and coupons twice a year.
