The memorial is a cultural and education site to commemorate the lofty sacrifice endured by the UN forces during the Korean War and to experience mutual understanding and cooperation for the cause of peace. The Korean War, beginning on June 25, 1950, lasted three years, leaving big scars and sadness across Korea. Jukmiryeong Hill, the site of the memorial, witnessed the first battle engaged by the UN forces; many young people were sacrificed to protect freedom and peace in Korea. The memorial is not only a place to show gratitude to those sacrificed, but also a place to showcase the development of Korea overcoming adversity along the way to future generations.
