Hwaseong Botanic Garden

The construction of Hwaseong Botanic Garden began on September 11, 2006 and the garden officially opened on May 5, 2010. Included in the botanical garden are an exhibition greenhouse, exhibition halls, an exploration center, a learning center, and an eco-botanical garden among others on an area that spans 110,000 square meters. In the exhibition greenhouse are stone sculptures of Korea’s five major mountains including Seoraksan Mountain, Jirisan Mountain, Taebaeksan Mountain, and Hallasan Mountain. In addition, the greenhouse exhibits more than 1,000 varieties of plants indigenous to Korea, and it offers a unique experience for visitors to learn about the ecosystem and plant species that grow in Korea. Hope Tree, a pine tree that is 280 years old, the 200-year old Wish Tower, and the one thousand-year-old birch tree have stories to them while the trail lined with gingko trees and the pine tree-shaded resting area provide families and couples with a place to relax and an opportunity to appreciate all that Mother Nature has to offer.
