Bukhansan Mountain

Bukhansan Mountain has long been appreciated by the Korean people as one of the country’s greatest mountains. As this majestic mountain set amid splendid scenery overlooks the city center and is easily reached by public transport, it attracts many visitors all year around. In particular, the Bukhansanseong Fortress Walking Course is a highly popular nature trail that passes via the main gates of the fortress and Sanseong Valley, the longest valley of Bukhansan Mountain, allowing hikers to appreciate both the natural environment and history. Bukhansan Mountain covers 78.54㎢ and consists of a series of about twenty peaks including the main peak Baegundae, Insubong Peak, and Mangyeongdae, which are located between Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province. Baegundae (836.5m), its highest peak, has also played an important strategic role in protecting the capital in the past.
