Joan-myeon, Namyangju City has been designated as a slow city for the first time in the metropolitan area in Korea. It has a typical sustainable ecological area with traditional heritage, clean water, and earth: the beautiful nature of Bukhanggang and Namhangang Rivers, Birth Home of Jeong Yak-yong (pen-name: Dasan), and museum. To celebrate its designation as a slow city in November 2010 and to promote its ideology and philosophy, Joan-myeon established Slow City Joan. It presents the story of Joan-myeon, a description of organic farming, and the reproduction of the town’s old look. The second floor has an exhibition hall, a rest space, and a terrace. Visitors will be able to appreciate the aesthetics of slow culture.
