  • DSC_0257[1]

This musical instrument museum is exhibiting some 2,000 folk musical instruments from 100 countries around the world. The museum is filled with unique folk musical instruments from Asia, Africa, Oceania, Europe, and Latin America.

Folk music refers to the type of music performed or sung by people who live together in an area to express their feelings. It was transmitted orally, so the creator of folk music as well as its history is mostly not known. Note, however, that folk music has been with the local people for a long period of time, so it reflects the history and story of the people well. Folk musical instruments have been developed along with folk music. Musical instruments helped people share their thoughts and feelings. Primitive musical instruments developed into folk instruments that perform rhythm and beats unique to each folk area. Folk musical instruments expressing happiness, sadness, and excitement are important in telling the history and sentiment of a nation.
