Barbie is a symbolic being that has reflected social change since 1959, beyond the world of dolls. Delivering the hopeful message “You can be anything in the world,” Barbie dolls have been contributing to changing the public’s perception about professional women. They reveal their various looks in Gwangmyeong Cave, Gyeonggi-do.
The Gwangmyeong Cave Lascaux Exhibition Hall within the Dongguk Theme Park is holding a “Barbie Doll Exhibition” for 4 months starting July 1. The “Barbie Doll Exhibition” in Gwangmyeong Cave will feature some 740 Barbie Dolls, including Barbie Doll manufacturer Mattel’s limited-edition Barbie dolls and the collection of 147 Barbie Dolls of the Museum of Decorative Arts. The exhibition consists of 7 sections: introduction to Barbie, history of Barbie, Who is Barbie,
Barbie and various occupations, Barbie’s production process, collaboration work between Barbie and artists, and Barbie and fashion. Visitors will be able to see various contents related to Barbie in one place.
