Icheon Ceramics Festival
Designated as a UNESCO Creative City in the category of Crafts and Folk Arts in 2010, Icheon boasts of a local culture whose value has already been recognized globally.
During this festival, visitors can appreciate and purchase artworks by world-famous artists and see this year’s ceramic trend. In particular, the Ceramic Tour Program will provide a guided tour to the world of various kinds of porcelain. Visitors can see beautiful celadon and white porcelain, which is crystalloid of symbolism and space; even buncheong, a grayish-blue celadon created in freewheeling style, can be seen in one place.

Gwangju Royal Ceramic Festival
Gwangju’s ceramic festival will provide an opportunity for visitors to appreciate the elegance of royal ceramics. Featuring an exhibition of royal ceramics, it will honor the spirit of artisans. It also offers an experience event for visitors to make ceramics under the guidance of potters.
Gwangju used to be a ceramics town with a long history; it had bunwon of Saongwon (government office in charge of royal cuisine) of the Joseon period. Bunwon is a place that produces ceramics given as a tribute to administrative offices as well as royal wares. It was also called “Bunsaongwon” or “Bunjuwon” according to ancient records.
In particular, during this festival, visitors can watch martial art demonstrations at the UNESCO-listed Namhansanseong Fortress. The military band parade, Nongak (farmers’ performances), and Jultagi (tightrope walking) performance will surely add to the fun. Other must-see attractions are the hip-hop performance that appeals to young sensibility and situation theater.

Yeoju Ceramic Festival
At Yeoju Ceramic Festival, visitors can see ceramics that can be used in daily life.
Vessels and spoons for basic table setting as well as ornaments will be showcased. Visitors can have a potter’s wheel experience and participate in the breaking dish event unique to the festival.
