Uijeongbu Budaejjigae Festival
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi-do Province attempts to commercialize Uijeongbu budaejjigae (kimchi and hotdog stew), Uijeongbu’s representative food brand, through the Uijeongbu Budaejjigae Festival every year to attract many local residents and tourists. This year, it also offered a performance by the military band of the 8th US Army, a drum performance, children’s magic doll play, and a Budaejjigae performance along with the opening ceremony. On the second day, it held a healthy food cooking competition befitting the reputation of 100-year-old Uijeongbu City as well as children’s magic doll play, a Budaejjigae performance, and a fan signing meeting with and a performance by Kim Jong-hwan, the official<?> singer of the city. In addition, the festival venue operated various promotional and experience booths such as calligraphy, flea market, and shops of excellent manufacturers to add a festive mood and to increase visitors’ satisfaction. The Uijeongbu budaejjigae street was introduced on the Korean comic strip Sikgaek. The street is located near Jungang Station of the U Line, and 14 budaejjigae restaurants are operating along the street.
