2016 Yulgok Culture Festival
The 29th Yulgok Culture Festival will be held at the Yulgok Historic Site, which shows the life of Yulgok, a famous Confucian scholar during the Joseon Dynasty. Major programs include an opening ceremony to commemorate the scholar’s posthumous influence on Korean culture, the “Yulgok Ritual Ceremony” held at Jauseowon Confucian Academy, and the re-enactment of a traditional Confucian procession that was held after the scholar passed the national examination. During the festival, various events will be held as well, including the following: a “nationwide Chinese poem contest” to experience scholarly life; “an actual traditional wedding ceremony”; a demonstration of traditional tea ceremony, and; an exhibition of traditional hair styles.
