Ansan Seongho Cultural Festival
This festival is held to commemorate the life and achievements of Yi Ik (pen-name: Seongho), a Confucian scholar from Ansan during the Joseon Dynasty. The event, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, will be held at the gravesite of Yi Ik and Seongho Park between May 28 and 29. A memorial ritual for Yi Ik will be held in the traditional Confucian style at 11 am on May 28, and various traditional cultural events for the public, such as the Samduhoe (the meeting in which Seongho shared porridge, sprouts and bean paste with his family members) Experience and a Panel Exhibition of Seongho’s Philosophy. Visitors will be able to enjoy various traditional art performances by the Ansan Gyeonggi Folk Troupe, Pansori, Hwaseonmu (Traditional Korean dance with flower-fan), Tightrope Walking, and the Lion Mask Dance.
