Korea Folk Art Festival & Nation Youth Folk Arts Festival 2015
Oct. 8th – 11th, 2015
The Korea Folk Art Festival began in 1958 to preserve the traditional Korean folk art by providing an opportunity for talents to display their skills and the diverse features of folk art, which are disappearing due to the influence of Western culture. It is coordinated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and the Arts Council Korea, jointly with local cities and provinces. From 1994, it has been held along with the Nation Youth Folk Arts Festival. Through this festival, 139 forms of folk art, including 36 varieties of intangible cultural heritages as well as 103 kinds in provinces and cities have been discovered until now and registered as National Intangible Heritage. Auxiliary events such as traditional crafts, regional experiences in the courtyard, and a food court are arranged for the festival.
