Yeoncheon Jangnam Unification Festival

Yeoncheon-gun is holding the 2nd Yeoncheon Jangnam Unification Festival in Horogoru Embankment of the Goguryeo Dynasty, to wish for a peaceful national unification and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from the Japanese occupation.
In particular, this festival aims to revive the area by promoting tourism in relation to its local historic sites. During the opening ceremony, which will be held from 4 p.m. on August 29th, visitors can watch performances by members of the local community, as well as performances by an indie rock band of Hongik University. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese occupation, the festival has also organized an event where visitors will walk along the trail to wish for a peaceful national unification. During the festival, visitors can enjoy various programs such as balloon art, face painting, foam art, and talent-sharing program by famous painters. The festival will also operate a farmers’ market that sells specialty produce from Jangnam-myeon, as well as other food markets.
